Do you have a favourite photograph that you've taken this year? This is the question that we asked eight aerial photographers from across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

By way of reply, here are eight shots taken in 2022, and chosen by the photographers themselves as their favourites of the year.

I took this shot on a sunny afternoon in August on the beautiful island of Saint Agnes, on the Isles of Scilly. It's my favourite because of the light on the lighthouse, but also because it reminds me of all of the happy times I've spend on this island.

After a break of two years, Pi the humpback whale returned to the waters off the Isles of Scilly. "I have been waiting two years to capture better whale shots. This time Pi was right in by the rocks - and the advancements in drone technology, with the 7x optical zoom, allows you to get much closer. These opportunities don’t come around very often!"

"It was one of those nights which wasn’t planned, and turned out to be a magical summers evening, so warm and still - like the Mediterranean!  Perfect conditions for the shot I had in mind, wanting Polruan to look like an Italian or French village by the sea".

Timing is everything in this shot: the roundabout at St. Erth goes over the trainline - so when the train goes under the roundabout you can look down and see it passing through!

"This image was my favourite because it captures moments in time, the train taking passengers to St. Ives on the wonderful coastal line - and there’s also the old A30 road which has been left ‘abandoned’ many years ago when the new roundabout was built. Many people including locals never knew about the old trunk road - it’s a great talking point and something only a drone can bring to life."
